Arrive in Hobart and settle into a harbourfront hotel near Salamanca Place. Explore the waterfront, markets (on weekends), and the city’s growing food scene. Spend the next day visiting MONA by ferry—Australia’s most distinctive contemporary art museum—before a relaxed evening in Hobart.

Drive up Tasmania’s east coast to the Freycinet Peninsula and your coastal lodge. Enjoy scenic beach walks, Wineglass Bay Lookout hikes, kayaking, oyster farm visits, and excellent wildlife viewing (wallabies, dolphins, seabirds).
Overnights: Saffire Freycinet or Freycinet Lodge
Continue inland to Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park. Walk around Dove Lake, explore temperate rainforest trails, and join a night-spotting tour to look for wombats, quolls, possums, and Tasmanian devils. Dawn and dusk around the lodge offer exceptional wildlife encounters.

Return to Hobart, fly via Adelaide, and continue to Kangaroo Island—Australia’s “Galápagos.” Spend your days with expert naturalists exploring sea lion colonies, koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, wallabies, Remarkable Rocks, and Admirals Arch. Enjoy guided conservation experiences, coastal 4WD outings, honey farm visits, and beach picnics. Add an extra day for hiking or photography.
